Dear Parents:
Woodson ISD has had no confirmed cases of swine flu since the
recent outbreak in Texas.
At this time, the nearest confirmed cases are in the Dallas-Fort
Worth area. Due to the media coverage of the outbreak and our
location in fairly close proximity to the Metroplex area, some
parents are understandably concerned. We are staying in contact
with Throckmorton County health officials and are receiving the
latest health related updates from the state. Our maintenance and
custodial personnel are taking extra precautions to disinfect all
classrooms, restrooms, and doorknobs on the campus. We also have
hand sanitizers in each classroom.
Please help us by asking your children to take extra precautions
such as not eating or drinking after anyone else and washing their
hands often. If your child shows symptoms of any type of influenza,
we encourage you to: (1) contact your local family doctor for
possible treatment and
(2) keep them at home until they are symptom free. For their own
safety and the safety of others, students should not return to
school until they have been fever and symptom free for 24 hours
without medication. Swine flu is a person to person transmission
that is treatable with Tamiflu and like drugs. For more details,
please consult the Center for Disease Control link at
www.cdc.gov/swineflu where there are postings in English and
Spanish. Woodson ISD will also make every effort to keep updated
information on the homepage of the district web site at
www.woodsonisd.net and will continue to monitor the situation
closely. We appreciate your support and understanding at this
time.
Yours truly,
Danny Bellah, Superintendent
Woodson Independent School District
