Mrs. Margaret Mathiews

My roots are deep in Throckmorton County, me being part of our fourth generation to work, ranch and raise a family here. I decided early on I wanted to teach. I had so many great influences from my high school teachers. I graduated from THS in 1972, received my BBA from Tarleton State University in December 1976, and in January of 1977, I was hired by Jerry Church to teach the first kindergarten class of Woodson ISD. Melinda Thurman taught 1st and 2nd grade combined, and I had kindergarten in one corner of that same room. Our room was in what is currently Mrs. Miller's 2nd Grade Room; so much has changed since then! I taught for five and a half years, then stayed home for five years with Jeff and Jennifer. Jeff graduated from WHS in 2000, and Jennifer in 2003. Both went on to graduate from Texas Tech University. I have enjoyed all my years working for Woodson ISD, since returning to teaching in the Fall of 1986, and I hope to continue a while longer.
